Knowing that the role of volunteering in Tulcea as a Religion teacher at several schools (”Ion Creanga” Theoretical Highschool, ”Grigore Moisil” Theoretical Highschol, ”Ion Luca Caragiale” Secondary School), Codris Izabela-Daniela accepted the invitation offered by the Local Volunteering Centre in Tulcea to participate, together with her students, to the meetings which took place in October this year, with the aim of recruiting volunteers for the organisations and institutions of Tulcea town. She promoted volunteering in the schools where she teaches and the students who were interested in this event registered within the centre, mentioning their options: the institution within which they want to activate as volunteers, the type of beneficiaries they want to help (childrem in orphanages, old people, hospitalised children, etc.).
As a result of some peartnerships with the family Services Complex in Tulcea and with the Orphanage ”Speranta” (Hope) and after she established a program, the highschool volunteers did certain activities (educational, entertaining and socialising, homework) with the children institutionalized in the two centers, since october to the present. Others became volunteers of the ”Prevention, Evaluation and Antidrug Councilling Centre” in Tulcea, of the ”Red Cross” or of the ”County Foundation for Young People”.
As a volunteer teacher of the ”County Foundation for Young People” she involved herself in the organisation of the humanitarian action ”Help Santa Claus!”, which was planned for the months november – december this year in more stages: collecting clothes, shoes, toys in order to be donated to the students with a poor financial situation in the schools that are part of the partnership to develop this event. creating decorations for the winter holidays in a creation workshop by the volunteers of the Local Volunteering Center; organizing the tombola ”Old Nicholas’ boot” in the partner schools, the objects they are going to win being decorations made by the volunteers or publications.
As a member of the team organizing the humanitarian event ”Help Santa Claus” Codris Izabela promoted this activity in the schools where she teaches, she recruited volunteers for the ’creation’ workshop, she collected all the donations, she supervised the tombola activity, she identified the poor students in the partner schools. To attract people to this event, she installed ballots to collect funds in different locations in town. The money both from these collections and from the tombola event will be used to complete the Christmas presents.
