How to Get SELENE/Kaguya Data: Terrain Camera On behalf of both the Astrogeology Program at USGS and the NASA Planetary Cartography and Geologic Mapping Working Group, I’m going to give you a quick introduction to the NASA cartography program. I’ll talk first about the program organization, what we’re doing at USGS, and then I’ll tell you about the long-range planning that’s going on in this group. I’ll end by giving you a short summary of some of the USGS cartography products that you can find online. NASA PDS Imaging Node Lisa Gaddis (USGS) and Susan LaVoie (JPL) Oct 2010 Jan 2011

The SELEnological ENgineering Explorer SELENE “Kaguya” The SELEnological ENgineering Explorer Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) mission to the Moon Launched on September 14, 2007 Lunar impact on June 10, 2009 Main orbiting satellite at ~100 km altitude & two smaller satellites with 11 scientific instruments in polar orbit Major Products: Global topographic map of the Moon Geophysical and compositional data and discoveries Global BxW and color mosaics Far side gravity field Mission overview and team members http://www.kaguya.jaxa.jp/index_e.htm Primary NASA management is provided by the PGG Program Manager, Steve Saunders. Proposal reviews and prioritization of tasks are provided by the PCGMWG and GEMS (these are chaired by Paul Schenk and Tracy Gregg, respectively), with the participation of 10 or so NASA-funded experts from the science or engineering community. We at USGS provide expertise in planetary cartography. I am the current Team Chief Scientist, Chris Isbell is my Associate, and our technical or subject matter experts are Randy Kirk, Brent Archinal.
