Do’s and Don’t Of Web Design BY Julia Butterfield

Background Colours Do- Make sure that your website backgrounds colours are not too bright and easy to be able to see the front on top of the background. Like This Don’t- Have a background that you can hardly see that text on the page or pictures. Or that really hurts your eyes when you look at it. Like This

Information On the Homepage Do- The homepage should just have a few things on it, then there some be little tabs that lead off to other pages to learn more information. Don’t- Have too many things going on in your website, especially on your homepage.

Spelling and Grammar Do- Make sure all of your words on your website are spelled correctly and everything makes sense! Don’t- Have a whole bunch of spelling errors, and sentences or words that don’t make sense.

Font Do- Have any easy font that everyone who reads your website will be able to clearly see the words. Don’t- Have a font that is crazy and hard to read. Not Something that some people might not be able to read like this. Something easy to see like this!

Word Choice Do- Use words that anyone who is reading your website will be able to read. You never know who will be reading your website. Try and write it in a grade 8 level. Don’t- Use words that only older really good readers will be read. Most people with read it if they don’t understand anything on the website.

Functionally Do- Make sure that when someone go to your website, that I works. Or when you have a tab going somewhere that that works to. Plus if you have a video of picture, make sure it works. Don’t- Have that when someone goes on to your website, that it says that the webpage isn't there or any of the other places on your website. Plus don’t have a none working video or picture Because it can be quite annoying for the person looking at your website.

. What Your Website Is About Do-Make sure that whatever your title of your website or pictures on your homepage have something to do with what your website is about. Don`t have a completely different title and pictures on your homepage then what your website is actually about.

Copyrighting Do- Make sure that everything that is on your website is not just copy it from someone else. Don’t- Copy information on your website form someone else.

What’s Going On Do- Have the right amount of information on the pages of your website. Don’t- Have tons and loads of information on page of the website. Because for the reader of your website it can get confusing and boring.

Contact Information Do- Make sure that the contact information on your website is true and will take the user of your website to the right place Don’t- Have fake information on how to contact you. Also don’t have information that isn’t so detailed, that someone can find where you live without you wanting them too.

Right Away Do- Wait patiently, your most like not going to get people visit your website the second you put it on the internet. Don’t- Get mad or worry that no one has visits your website site, just give it some time.

Keep It Simple Do- Have a very simple plan on your website. It more interesting and easier to the user of your website if it is simple and not crazy. Don’t- Have too many things going on. People most likely wont want to read or look at your website if they is a crazy amount of things on it.
