Benvenuti! Italiano ICP1 - IH, IICP1, III H, IVH

Classroom Expectations  Be ready Bring all material (binder and homework) to class and be in your seat when the bell rings.  Be Productive Participate in class activities and do your honest best Start the “fare adesso” activity as you wait for the teacher to check attendance and homework. (presenza e compiti)  Be positive and respectful Treat fellow students and teacher with respect, wait your turn to talk and listen to others when they speak. Raise your hand! Alza la mano!  Speak the Italian language as much as possible Dare to speak Italian and be open minded and curious about the culture.

Basic Classroom Rules/Procedures  No music devices or games  Cell phone off and out of sight. It will be confiscated.  If you borrow a pencil from the teacher’s desk, it needs to be returned at the end of the class.  Use restrooms only for emergencies and no more than few minutes  No food or drinks* in class. Gum should be dispose of as you enter *Exceptions will be occasionally authorized by the teacher

Discipline Policy  In order to guarantee a positive learning environment, the students are expected to meet the teacher’s expectations.  If students choses to break a rule: 1) First Offence:WARNING 2) Second Offence: TEACHER STUDENT’S CONFERENCE 3) Third Offence: DETENTION and phone call to parents 4) Fourth Offence: MEETING WITH TEACHER, STUDENT, PARENT, AND OR ADMINISTRATORS.

Grading Criteria  Test/quizzes and projects 50% (50 pts.)  Quizzes every week or other week, chapter tests including speaking and listening comprehension  Class Participation/Class work 20% (20 pts.)  Completing workbook activities, group work, partner work, independent work. Active participation in class during sharing and speaking activities.  Homework 20% (20 pts.)  Photocopy exercises/projects/study guides/research/memorized speaking activities.  Binder/notebook10% (10 pts.)  Binder will be checked periodically and should be kept in order, with photocopies and notes taken in class.

Materiale per la classe  A 2“ binder (3 ring) with a hard cover and plastic insert, possibly white  Loose leaf paper to place inside binder  Colorful folder with pockets for portfolio  Pencil or pen, eraser, highlighter, and color pencils or markers

Textbook/libro di testo  Italian ICP-IH: “Avanti con L’italiano” and “Ecco Uno”  Italian IICP-IIH: “Ecco Due”  Italian IIIH: “Sei pronto per imparare.”  Italian IVH: “ Sei pronto per migliorare”, “Progetto Italiano”  Additional material the teacher will provide  Internet sites and authentic materials from the web rom the student’s workbook will be provided and kept in the binder. You binder will be checked periodically and graded.
