The who, what, when, where, why, and how. Who - Researcher’s from the Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia. What -Researchers believe that by playing wii type games, you can strain or sprain parts of your body. When - This article was last updated with new information on October 4 th, Where - The research is taking place at the Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia. Why - Researchers are studying this because since the wii has come out there has a been a rise in gaming injury. How - These injuries are happening from people overdoing it when playing wii type games.

 This is an international story because people around the world own and play games on the wii. The impact of this story will be beneficial to everyone that owns a wii because it will warn them to be more careful when playing and to not overdo it.  Everyone who plays a wii on a daily basis runs the risk of getting seriously hurt if they play for too long. So far, only around 100 people have gotten hurt from wii related games.

 We found this article on BBC News. There was no specific author written down on the page, so we do not know who wrote it. We think that a BBC News reporter wrote this article. This article had scientists who gave support for the author’s reasons. In addition, a nintendo spokesman said that injury can occur from overdoing it when playing the wii. After reading the article, we learned that it was not biased.

Our Reaction We chose this article because we thought it would be interesting to learn how you can injure yourself from playing video games. We thought that this article was well written, but could have used more details. Our minds were not changed on the issue because we have never had a previous opinion on the issue. Now, we want to know how will future games systems that are like the wii affect people. Will it cause more or less injuries?

 Over a five year period there were 696 gaming injuries.  The average age of these injuries was in people a little over 16.  There were 92 interactive gaming injuries on systems like the wii.  A player broke their foot while falling off a wii balance board.
