HATA is the teachers association dedicated to the teachers and teaching of Agricultural and Horticultural Science in New Zealand. It is a subject association that promotes the New Zealand secondary subject Agricultural and Horticultural Science nationally. Horticulture and Agriculture Teachers Association of New Zealand (HATA).

 Networking  Subject interest  Support curriculum  Professional development opportunities  Updates on curriculum and resources  Access to resources Why join HATA?

 Provides expertise and experience  Communicates with members via  Liaises with other organisations (MoE, NZQA, PPTA…)  Provides / advertises professional development opportunities  Participates / supports the running of conferences  Provides / produces resources  Source of advice to MoE  Advocacy role with MoE, NZQA, etc. What does HATA do?

 Is committed to support the maintenance of the website to provide teachers with quality up to date resources and information  Actively has around 100 members  Seeks new members throughout New Zealand  Continues to promote Agricultural and Horticultural Science in New Zealand schools  Facilitated the HATA conference in Wellington  Elected a new Executive Committee for 2 years HATA in 2009!

 Continue its role of advocacy and support to all teachers of Agricultural and Horticultural Science in New Zealand  Maintain and develop good effective communication to members  Maintain and develop the provision of resources and information relevant to the teaching of Agricultural and Horticultural Science via its website  Allow networking opportunities on a range of topics (curriculum, assessments, exchanges, professional development etc)  Keep its members informed of any development affecting their work as teachers of Agricultural and Horticultural Science  Continue to raise its profile as a Subject Association  Holding and organising the 2011 HATA biennial conference HATA is committed to

 Improving /maintaining the website  Finding volunteer time  Finding financial support  Setting goals within the financial constraints  Developing ways to promote the subject further in schools  Growing membership by reaching teachers from all sectors  Develop and source resources for teachers use  Strengthen its regional branches  Support teachers effectively with curriculum teaching and learning by funding professional development Issues that HATA faces
