Your Safety during Ramadan

Why Should it Matter? According to the police, the greatest number of accidents occur a few hours before Iftar, around Isha and Taraweeh prayers and a couple of hours past midnight.

A Quick Look at Previous Years’ Statistics in Dubai During Ramadan last year, there were 231 accidents, which killed 16 people During Ramadan 2008, 18 people were killed in 298 accidents During Ramadan in 2007, 45 people died on the road as a result of 250 accidents.

How Can you Prevent this How Can you Prevent this? Simply Follow the rules and abide to Traffic Regulations! Colleagues have been hurt and killed because the simple driving rules were not followed. We do not want this to happen to YOU. We want YOU to: Know Understand and Follow the road safety rules. We want you to go home to your family and loved ones safely

Fatigue – The Hidden Killer Once fatigue sets in, there is very little you can do about it. For your safety, simply PARK your car in a safe place away from the road as soon as you have the chance to do so and take a break Make sure you had enough rest before moving your car again

Why are you at risk? Potential excessive working hours You may be too tired to drive safely due to fasting Lack of sleep due to staying up late at night Driving at night presents a very high risk.

Tips for Driving Safely during Ramadan Avoid driving for long hours. Stick to speed limits and follow road signs Avoid driving after a heavy meal when you break fast Make sure you get enough hours of sleep (it is advisable to have 8 hrs of sleep per day) Try not to stay up late and make sure you go to bed early (not later than 12:00 am) Stop your vehicle and take a break if you’re tired and not feeling well

Tips for Driving Safely during Ramadan Cont’d Wear your seatbelt at all times and make sure passengers are wearing it too Make sure you drink at least 1.5 Liters of water each day to stay hydrated as dehydration leads to fatigue Try to stay in your lane and not overtake when its unnecessary NEVER use mobile phones while driving, its one of the major causes for traffic accidents

Remember, your family and loved ones are waiting for you, so BE Safe for their sake, our sake and most importantly YOUR sake Wishing you and your family a safe and Holy Ramadan
