Six Mandatory Components in the District Parent Involvement and Participation Plan I.Develop a written policy that involves parents in the Title I Program(s) II.Provide technical assistance to schools to help coordinate plans and support to implement parental involvement III.Build the schools’ and parents’ capacity for strong parental involvement

Six SixSix Mandatory Components in the District Parent Involvement and Participation Plan IV.Coordinate and integrate parental involvement strategies with other programs V.Conduct, along with parents, an annual evaluation of the content and effectiveness of the parental involvement policy VI.Involve parents in the activities of the schools served.

I. Develop a written policy that involves paparents in the Title I Program(s) The district: Develops, reviews, and revises the District written Parent Involvement and Participation Plan each year with parents, teachers, administrators, and community members Convenes annual meetings to inform parents of Title I requirements and parents’ rights Offers a flexible number of meetings (minimum of 3) in an organized, ongoing, and timely way in the planning, review, and improvements of the Title I program

II. Provide technical assistance to schools to help coordinate plans and support to implement parental involvement The district: Provides parents with an explanation of the curriculum, assessments, and proficiency levels students are expected to meet (on PSUSD web page) Provides assistance to sites to implement successful parent involvement strategies Provides monetary assistance to support parental training Provides opportunities for parents to attend parent trainings

III. Build the schools’ and parents’ capacity for strong parental involvement The District assists parents in understanding the academic content standards and assessments so they can monitor and support efforts to improve the academic and social achievement of their children The District provide materials and training to help parents work with their children to improve academic and social achievement The District provide support for parents as requested

Build the Capacity for Involvement “Continued” The PSUSD staff is educated on the value of parent contributions and is provided with training on how to work with parents as equal partners The Title I parent involvement program is coordinated with other programs that encourage and support parents to fully participate in the education of their children Information is translated into a language that parents can understand

IV. Coordinate and integrate parental involvement strategies with other programs The District provides opportunities for all Title I parents to participate, including parents with limited English proficiency, parents with disabilities, and parents of migratory students. Examples are: – District Title I Parent Involvement Meetings – DELAC and DAC Meetings – District SPED Parent Meetings – District GATE Parent Meetings – District CTE Meetings – District PRICE Parenting Training – ECE Parent Trainings – The RCOE Parent/Family Involvement Trainings and Summits District-wide meeting dates and times are posted on the PSUSD web page.

Coordinate and integrate parental involvement strategies with other programs – “Continued” Opportunities for parents include: Annual parent-teacher conferences Family Parent Nights (Math, English, Science) District-wide parent trainings Student progress reports Access to staff (including and Parent Connect) PRICE Parenting Classes Volunteering in the classroom or at school in various capacities

VI. Conduct, along with parents, an annual evaluation of the content and effectiveness of the parental involvement policy The District provides parents with the opportunity to evaluate the Title I programs at the end of each year The District encourages parents to provide suggestions at each district and/or site parental involvement meeting to help ensure academic and social/culture success of their children.
