Educational Trip to Switzerland Organized by the Lockheed Martin/UCF Academy for Mathematics and Science Summer 2006

Day 1 Arrive in Zurich, transfer to hotel. Then we will undertake a walking tour of beautiful downtown Zurich or take a small train up to the Uetliberg and enjoy fresh air along the gorgeous view over the city and beyond.

Day 2 Rhinefalls in Neuhausen, near the border to Germany. See Europe’s largest Falls from different sides by walking over the bridge to Laufen Castle. Experience the power of the water by taking a boat ride right to the middle of the cataracts.

Day 3 Lucerne: See the natural wonders of glaciers while touring the most visited town in Switzerland. Then step into the Museum of Transport to walk over the country and learn all about the past, present and future of transport and mobility on land, sea and in the air

Day 4 Look inside the earth at the hell grottoes in Baar located in the middle of the wild, romantic Lorzentobel. Small lakes, stalagmites and stalactites of various colors give each cave its own unique character. In the afternoon you will enjoy the man-made wonders of the area in the town of Zug. See the clock tower and enjoy a slice of delicious Kirschtorte on the shores of Lake Zug.

Day 5 After a fun-filled visit to internationally renowned Swiss Science Center Technorama in Winterthur, stroll through the old part of town.

Day 6 After a boat ride on Lake Lucerne and visit of the glass factory in Hergiswil, …. …climb Mount Pilatus with the world’s steepest cogwheel train and see what the Alps and Lucerne look like from 6,800 feet above sea level. Webcam:

Day 7 School visit at Kantonsschule Wiedikon (7- 12) with bilingual (German-English program) in the morning. Free time to roam, shop, or to undertake a visit to Lindt chocolate factory or to one of the many fine museums in Zurich and its surroundings.
