BACKGROUND MAIN MENU The Swiss Confederation was founded in 1291 as a defensive alliance among three cantons. In succeeding years, other localities joined the original three. The Swiss Confederation secured its independence from the Holy Roman Empire in A constitution of 1848, subsequently modified in 1874, replaced the confederation with a centralized federal government. Switzerland's sovereignty and neutrality have long been honored by the major European powers, and the country was not involved in either of the two world wars. The political and economic integration of Europe over the past half century, as well as Switzerland's role in many UN and international organizations, has strengthened Switzerland's ties with its neighbors. However, the country did not officially become a UN member until Switzerland remains active in many UN and international organizations but retains a strong commitment to neutrality.

RECENT EVENT MAIN MENU In Switzerland Tiger Woods was playing in a club. While he was playing an unusual thing happened. A fox appeared in the club. This news spread around the whole wide world. The fox goes to the club between 4 and 6 pm. He always goes running around in between holes waiting until the player that is playing golf hits the ball for him to go for it and steal it in his mouth, when he grabs it he goes running the way that he came at the beginning. This fox went famous and many people now go to see him everyday to the golf club.

POINT OF INTEREST MENU MAIN MENU TOURISM MENU MUSEUM RIETBERG HAUS KONSTRUKTIV HANS WALDAMANN

MUSEUM RIETBERG MAIN MENU TOURISM MENU POINT OF INTEREST MENU A bevy of cultural experiences are to be found in this old villa, on top of a little hill in a park. On different floors, the Rietberg shows art from India, Southeast Asia, China, Tibet, Japan, Africa, Oceania, America, and Switzerland. Displays contain objects like statues of Shiva and other gods and goddesses, wooden dolls, masks and other artifacts. Get caught up in the world of the past and pay a visit to this magical museum.

HAUS KONSTRUKTIV MAIN MENU TOURISM MENU POINT OF INTEREST MENU The Haus Konstruktiv is located in the former Selnau electricity sub-station, one of the most distinctive icons of Zürich’s industrial architecture. The museum is the only such institution in Switzerland, one of just a few in Europe dedicated to historical and thematic exploration of concrete, constructive and conceptual art. The Haus Konstruktiv focuses on making it part of a living dialog with international trends in contemporary art. On five floors with a total of 1,200m² exhibition area, visitors discover works of art in the context of their historical background in various ways, through changing exhibitions and presentations of collections.

HANS WALD MANN MAIN MENU TOURISM MENU POINT OF INTEREST MENU Just across from the Fraumünster the statue commemorates Hans Wald Mann ( ), once general and mayor of Zurich. That may not be so surprising now, but at the time of his death a statue would have been out of the question. Originating from a simple background, he defeated Charles, Duke of Burgundy, in Later on however, his popularity waned and he was sentenced and beheaded.
