Name the shapes! square rectangle triangle circle oval diamond

What shape can you see? All the sides are the same. It is a square!

What is this shape? It has two long sides. It has two short sides. It is a rectangle!

Can you see a shape around the face? It has only one side! It is a circle!

Can you see another shape with only one line? It has only one side but is not a circle! It is an oval!

Can you see this shape in the window? It has 3 sides. The sides can be different lengths. Or the sides can be all the same length. It is a triangle! How many triangles can you see? 6

What shape can you see in this wood? It has 4 sides. It has 4 corners. Is it a square? No! It is a diamond! 3 How many diamonds can you see in the wood?

What shapes can you see in this fireplace? 2 circles! 2 rectangles! 2 ovals! And a curved shape across the top!

What shape can you see in these boards? Rectangles! Circles don’t fit together! Why not have boards in the shape of circles?

Shapes that fit together … tessellate! square circle oval triangle diamond Which of these shapes tessellate? triangle diamond square diamond triangle The shapes with straight lines!
