Production stage BACK

Tripod From the making of thriller opening sequence we’ve firstly realised the importance of a tripod. For the rough cut we’ve done hand held shots which gave the footage a sense of chaos. However it was harder to follow the story. By using tripod in a final shot we are able to give a sense of control that the killer possesses within him and stability that allows the audience to follow the story easier. The tripod had an 180 rotation which allowed us to track the shot easier and it has a feature to change its height that allowed us to make closer shots of close-ups. BACK

Cannon100 Camera Using Cannon100 camera within a final cut we’ve decided that we require changing from auto focus function to manual focus because using auto focus doesn’t work well taking shots within dark environment. We’ve decided to do so instead of making the area brighter because keeping the darkness adds a mystery to it. The camera worked well because it allowed us to film the video in HD, it was easy to use because of touchscreen and it allowed us to replay the video within the device which makes it easier to check the footage viability. BACK

Lighting We’ve learned that specific lighting can create an anxious feeling for the audience and the brighter the lighting the more of the mise-en-scene we will show within video which gives more detail for the audience allowing them to have a better knowledge towards the film. We’ve also learned that location of lighting matters because we are able to emphasise specific parts and cover the others by creating silhouettes if the lighting is shining towards the camera. BACK

Editing BACK

Adobe Premiere We’ve used Adobe Premiere Cs5.5 to edit the footage. The program includes a variety of transitions and fading effects which gave us the freedom of selection to what we are specifically aiming for. The program allowed us to edit the footage frame by frame which was useful to make sure we don’t make a continuity error and every motion is synched up within each shot. The program is also capable of exporting videos in different formats. I’ve chose to export it in MP4 format because it is one of the most recognisable video formats within the programs. BACK

Adobe After Effects We’ve also used Adobe after Effects Cs5.5. it allowed us to create animations for the opening sequence. It has a feature of synchronising the audio with the motion which I used to synchronise size of the title and a heartbeat which made it look like pounding heart that makes it look surreal. BACK

MixCraft We’ve used Mixcraft to create a non-diegetic music to set the mood for the opening sequence. We’ve learned that it is required to make and edit audio file separately because it makes it easier duo to the way it is laid out. BACK

Using Websites BACK

Youtube We’ve decided to store the video within YouTube which allows the video to be seen by anyone on any device with internet access. This gives an easier accessibility and therefore lets a wider audience to watch the opening sequence. We’ve also learned that by storing the video within YouTube servers makes it less likely to lower the frames while watching the video giving it a smoother experience. BACK

Trello We’ve used Trello for planning tasks. It was useful because it allowed us to create lists and calendars with reminders which contained deadlines. This made sorting tasks easy and organised. We’ve also learned that it is important to organise and plan out the production before doing because it saves up time during the further stages of filming. BACK

Weebly We’ve used Weebly blogging to post our work and organise it in order. Using blogs was helpful because we were able to on it from any computer with internet access. We’ve also learned that we are also required to present our work in a visually pleasing manner meaning that using different presentation types, having pictures and using lists is very useful. BACK
