To inform listeners about the rise in underage drinking in the city. To see how businesses such as off- licences and pubs are helping with cracking down on underage drinking
I want to keep it fairly informal, yet highly informative. For both parents and teenagers. Slightly resembling Radio 1’s Sunday Surgery. Presenter based.
I’ve found a study from the Scot Gov website in which teens in Edinburgh were asked to complete a questionnaire on their drinking habits and also showed how many shops have illegally sold alcohol to these teens. Have also found news articles about cracking down on underage drinking.
Spokesperson from Frank. NHS Scotland official. Shop/ Pub Owner. Local MSP. Vox Pops.
Everything will be linked by a presenter.
I plan on keeping the listener interested with the interviewees. Facts and figures.
I have a bus pass so travel costs are already paid for within Edinburgh. I have my own zoom.
I have to make sure that everyone has the right to reply, for instance shops or pubs serving alcohol to minors. PRS for songs that are included within my package.
I’m focusing on Edinburgh’s underage drinkers and all the facts and figures will be about Edinburgh. The magazine is already featuring a teenager topic so that links in also there’s a topic about nightclubs so again that loosely ties in.
The Sunday Surgery have tackled this topic in England, as it’s Radio 1 it was fresh and made it interesting for their younger listeners. This package would suit Radio Scotland as it’s relative to the Country and is topical.
Have a few relative songs throughout my package, for instance “Teenage Kicks” by The Undertones. Vox Pops, so the listeners can hear the public’s opinion and also make them think about their own opinion.
