LONG HISTORY OF ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH AT UNDERC 1920’s - E. A. Birge’s pioneering lake studies at UNDERC. 1940’s - J. T. Curtis forest communities of UNDERC. 1950’s – A. Hasler conducts first whole-lake lake experiments on Peter & Paul Lakes. 1970’s – F. Hooper and T. Griffing conduct first radioisotope studies of phosphorus-cycling in bogs.
