06/12/ Review on existing NAS Focus on Mediterranean countries

06/12/  Finland  France  Spain  Malta  Tunisia Focus on Mediterranean countries

06/12/ Why Finland ? Finland was the first country to adopt a national adaptation strategy (2005). The CYPADAPT team visited Finland (February 2012) and came in contact with the team that worked on the Finnish NAS and has shared valuable information and experience (success stories, lessons learned)

06/12/ Monitoring – evaluation methodology

06/12/ Levels of adaptation to climate change: case-study Finland

06/12/ Levels of adaption by sector

06/12/ Next steps  After the vulnerability of Cyprus to climate change has been analyzed and the alternative adaptation options applied worldwide have been recorded, the adaptation options shall be prioritized  A multi-criteria analysis (MCA) tool will be developed for the prioritization of the adaptation measures.  The structure of the MCA tool will be based on objectives, alternative measures/options/interventions, criteria (or attributes), scores that measure or value the performance of each adaptation option against the criteria, and weights (applied to criteria).

06/12/ Next steps (2)  A draft adaptation plan will be published in an interactive blog in order for the plan to be able to be reviewed by the public for a period of two (2) months. All recommendations will receive full consideration and the final revised plan, will then be submitted for endorsement to the Parliament and then published to the public.  A set of indicators will be established for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the Cypriot National Adaptation Strategy that will be developed in the context of CYPADAPT project

06/12/ Conference invitation  Please be informed that in the context of the CYPADAPT project an International Conference will be held in Nicosia, Cyprus in March  Stay tuned in for more information!
