Past, Present, and Future Tense Verbs

Present Tense The present tense of a verb shows an action that happens at this moment or repeatedly. Example: Underwater archaeologists explore many places and things.

Past Tense The past tense shows an action that already happened. “ed” or a helping verb is added to the verb Example: The ship submerged almost thousand years ago.

Future Tense The future tense shows an action that will take place in the future. Will, shall, might, or may is used as a helping verb. Example: The divers will investigate the wreck for several weeks.

Present Progressive The present progressive form of a verb expresses an action that is continuing in the present. A form of the “Be” is used with a verb ending with “ing” (Be- am, is, are) Example: The boat is racing across the lake right now.
