GRASSLAND BIOME By: Alexys Hanes, Samantha Webster Bryce Doyle, Nicole Spillane

Introduction It is the year 2032 and you live in the Grasslands. Let’s just say that the grasslands have just changed for the worst in the past 20 years. After a population boom, the population has decreased traumatically. Your natural resources have been severely depleted.

Hello. I am the Botanist. My job is to research the plants of world biomes. I have some new interesting facts about some new plants in the grassland area. Did you know that the grasslands have just about 9,000 kinds of grasses. Botanist

First, is the sedges. Sedges can be found near the rivers, ponds, and streams of the Grasslands. These plants look very similar to grasses. The sedges grow in the damp grounds of the Grasslands. Sedges

Forbs are small plants with wide leaves. These plants have bright flowers on them. The forbs don’t have a woody stem like trees and shrubs. Other kinds of common forbs are sunflowers, mint, and golden rods. These plants last up to 50 years. Flowers like these have adapted to living conditions with very little water. When you go to grasslands you will find plants that grew up to 20 feet tall. Forbs

Hi I am the meteorologist. My job is to research to study the climate of world biomes. I am researching the biome of the grasslands. Did you know that most organism’s hiding spot is in a tree or grasses Meteorologist

The supply of water is 10 to 30 inches so in ponds it can be either in pampas that are salt water lakes. Water Recourses

The average precipitation is 10 to 30 inches if precipitation each year. Average precipitation

The climate is moist and humid. This allows the height of the grass to grow up to 10 feet. Hot summers, cold winters. There are very few trees in the grasslands Climate

The average summer temperature is just above 80 degrees. In the winter, it can be as cold as 26.6 degrees. Average Temperature
