Discussion Example #1: Mr. Bowen wants to buy a new set of golf clubs. The clubs he wants to buy is normally $540.00. They are on sale right now for 25% off the original price. Sales tax on the clubs will be 6%. Find the final price of the new clubs.

Mrs. Bowen told Mr. Bowen that there is no way he is spending that much money on golf clubs. Instead she wants to buy a new flat screen television for the living room. Walmart has a 55 inch Ultra Slim HDTV Flat Screen that is normally $1099.99 but it is on sale for 42% off. The sales tax on the TV will be 6.5%. How much will the final price of the TV be?
