Presentation transcript:

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? I use certain conventions of real media products, I reinforce my brand on both my contents and double page. I made sure to make the genre of my magazine clear so it can easily attract my target audience. Also like real media products I have thought about the price of my magazine within reason.

How does your media product represent particular social groups? It shows through genre for example use of colour, photos of featuring artists in the product, vocabulary and just generally overall style of my product is very in keeping with my target audience. Also as its for working class/teenagers I made sure to make the price affordable.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? I think mainly shops will distribute my media product as I've aimed it at a particular audience which is very popular, therefore if big brand shops were to distribute my product a lot of people would see my magazine and buy it as it is aimed at a wide range of people within the genre of rock. Also if my product was on sale in big and little shops I could sell my product cheaper as more people would buy it compared to aiming it at a niche market and charging more as its for a smaller scale and more specific audience.

Who would be the audience for your media product? My audience would be those obviously interested in rock music, most probably working class/students. Therefore I would sell them in bigger brand and corner shops so I could sell my product at a cheap and affordable price for my audience. I will also offer social networking sites and an online version showing previews of parts of my magazines, also cheap and upcoming gigs are displayed in my magazine which will appeal to teenagers with low income.

How did you attract/address your audience? I attracted my audience by particularly using bright and vibrant colours for the puff/pug to attract and draw the audiences eyes to the product. Also by using attracting colours it helps make my product look interesting. Also on my front and contents page I used a lot of photos and text so there wasn't a lot of free space so it seems less boring and more busy and interesting. As well as this I used bright text against dark backgrounds to make the text pop and eye catching.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? I've learnt how to actually use Photoshop, for example how to add text and change the positioning and font. I've also learnt how to erase using the magic wand, which is easier and more precise then just using the rubber around the edge of a photo. I've learnt how to change the colours of photos, backgrounds, texts and shapes. I have gained skills like airbrushing and cropping which I have used in the construction of my magazine.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? Again I've learnt how to use Photoshop and importantly what works well when constructing a magazine, for example moving things/layout around for the best overall view following conventions from real media products. I also learnt how to work independently and figure out and learn things for myself. I feel like I have progressed as I knew nothing about Photoshop before hand and didn’t really do much in the preliminary task as I had no idea what was going on.
