 Show passion in their work  Cultivate a healthy work environment  Mentor others  Promote advancement of the profession  Are team players and team builders

The school nurse provides leadership in both the professional setting and the nursing profession. A school nurse is the only health care professional in the school and is expected to be a leader in health and child advocacy issues.

Good Communication is:  Active listening  Asking questions for clarification  Speaking clearly and succinctly

Honesty:  Keeping your word, following through Integrity:  Courage to speak up when your view is unpopular Trust:  Gained by acting in the best interest of the team or organization

Commitment: Inspire loyalty to increase productivity

Be Authentic Have a clear picture of your strengths and weaknesses

How can you take your own identified Leadership qualities and apply them to a role within FASN?

 Identify your main leadership characteristic  Move to the correlating color poster  Form a small group with every color of leadership characteristic represented  Discuss question posed to you by the presenters  Feedback and discussions from groups

Now that you know you have a passion for school nursing, unbounded enthusiasm and a willingness to serve…. won’t you consider volunteering for a Leadership role in our professional organization today?
