STANDING GUARD

I learned when listening to our local radio station, that if we paraded every fallen Soldier, Sailor, Airmen, Marine and Coast Guardsmen in the USA’s history past us, and they were lined them up 10 abreast, and marched for 24 hours a day, it would take 15 days to review them all. That really struck me, the multitudes of people who willingly sacrificed their own lives for us! And this does not take into account the millions who came home with physical and mental injuries.

“Think of all the people who have given their lives or given up their loved ones to secure our freedoms from the founding of our country until now and all of the sacrifices that have been made by so many for the cause of liberty. Now we’re seeing it all being squandered away by a relatively few, exceedingly evil people for their own personal gain. This should create within us an anger, a righteous indignation that is strong enough to destroy any apathy or indifference in our hearts. It should motivate us to demand that our representatives in government respect their oaths to the Constitution or remove them from office.” Pastor Mike Smith, Tolerating Tyranny, p. 33

Leader of The Boy Scouts of America, Robert Gates said, “We can’t ignore the social, political and judicial changes taking place in our country. We must deal with the world as it is, not as we might wish it to be. The status quo [no homosexual scoutmasters at present] in our movement's membership standards cannot be sustained…"

My response to his statement: “That is a LIE! If the leadership had the moral courage to stand for what is right, the honor and integrity of the Boy Scouts would be maintained. It is the respon- sibility of Robert Gates to protect the thousands of young boys in scouting from perversion and decadent predators. But that would take character, courage, and integrity that are obviously missing in someone who would make such a statement.”

Not ignoring the social, political, and judicial changes in our country does not mean we must go along with them. How about fighting them? And instead of accepting the world as it is, since it is not as we would like it to be, How about rejecting immorality and tyranny, and making a stand for righteousness and freedom? Perhaps the reason so many people are willing to adapt to the repressive and immoral changes taking place in our country is because they don’t believe in absolutes or that they are accountable to a righteous and holy God. Most people are afraid of going against the grain and offending people, but We should be much more afraid of offending God!

Back in May 2013, the Scouts voted to change their 105-year-old membership policy From: “We do not grant membership to individuals who are open or avowed homosexuals or who engage in behavior that would become a distraction to the mission of the BSA…” To “No youth may be denied membership in the Boy Scouts of America on the basis of sexual orientation or preference alone.” The gay lobby rejoiced in Gates’ announcement and want to see even more action allowing homosexual leadership in the Scouts.

“Gates added that, despite the Supreme Court decision, Boy Scouts of America v. Dale in 2000 that affirmed the Scouts’ freedom to restrict its membership … the gay lobby could force the Scouts to ‘forbid any kind of membership standard, including our foundational belief in our duty to God and our focus on serving the specific needs of boys.’” (Emphasis added) The New American, “Gates to Scouts: Prepare to Surrender”, by Bob Adlemann,

THE SCOUT OATH On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; [duty to God and country] To help other people at all times; [duty to others] To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight. [duty to self and God]

BOY SCOUT LAW A Scout is: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

By the way, the Girl Scouts are now accepting trans- gendered “girls” as well. “Last week, the American Family Association launched a petition demanding the Girl Scouts rescind their policy welcoming transgender girls. The petition reads: ‘This means girls in the organization will be forced to recognize and accept transgenderism as a normal lifestyle. Boys in skirts, boys in make-up and boys in tents will become a part of the program. This change will put young innocent girls at risk.’" Huffington Post,

TRANSGENDER Usage Note: The term “transgender” has largely replaced the older term “transsexual”, which is now considered outdated. Transgender is a less clinical term, referring more to gender identity and gender expression than to sexual orientation or physical sex characteristics. It is also a more general and inclusive term: a transgender person may be gay, transsexual, transvestite, or even genderqueer. Some transgender people object to the adjectival variant, “transgendered”, because the “ed” suffix could imply that something “happened” to make the person transgender.
