About myself Ron Kandhai Ron.Kandhai@nl.abb.com Sales Engineer Low Voltage Systems +31652338621 Sales Engineer at ABB for Low Voltage Systems in the Netherlands. Six (6) years experience with Low Voltage Motor Control Centres (MCC’s) for power, petrochemical, oil and gas projects. Good Afternoon. © ABB Group April 20, 2017 | Slide 2

What characterizes a truly intelligent switchgear What characterizes a truly intelligent switchgear? Challenges today – Added Value 1. Higher safety 3. Lower life cycle cost 4. Lower down time 2. Maximum simplicity 5. Higher process availability Target of customer(s) is to run the plant with highest safety, reliability, availability against lowest cost of ownership! © ABB Group April 20, 2017 | Slide 3

You get the first fully supervised system. Higher Safety: advanced technical solution. Smart sensor technique replaces the traditional current and voltage transformers. Proven technology from car industry. Full motor protection and supervision By measuring current and voltage per phase. Circuit board with microprocessor Temperature measurement Built in per power module High precision shunt (integrated in the copper busbar) Speaker Aid Highlight: Switchgear self supervision due to Current, Voltage, and Temperature measurements. CT’s are no longer used. Points to understand: The I, V and T measurement provides a complete overview on the switchgear. All information (if selected as option) is available via the MView web browser and OPC Accuracy of the shunt is better than 3%, normal CT’s used for industry protection / measurement are usually 5% Caution: Avoid debate over the sensor measurement technique. Emphasize it is not ABB invention. It is a proven technology for measurement in the auto industry. Variable speed devices also use similar technology i.e. No CT’s You get the first fully supervised system. © ABB Group April 20, 2017 | Slide 5

Higher Safety: Unique Design Safety by design – Arc Faults ABB Design Philosophy MNS® switchgear platform Arcing faults prevention designing and dimensioning the system correctly and using materials that actively do not support Arcs. maintenance free busbar located way from the operator at the rear, segregated behind an arcing barrier. Insulated distribution bus bars phase segregated so it is virtually impossible to create secondary arcing faults providing a Fault Free Zone. Type Tested as per IEC60439 as well as IEC61461 for Arc Fault containment & VDE0550 crit. 6 & 7. 1TGC910045E0201 MNS iS arc fault test video.wmv Withdraw a module for safe maintenance We have tested the MNS iS panel at IPH in Berlin according IEC and did that even with open doors what is not required in the standard. The background here is that we tried to understand the route cause for an arc and to eliminate the probable reasons. The result of this test was really convincing as we even pass the tests with indicator plates inside the control and cable compartment room. In the attached movie you can see one of these shots (but with closed doors) where none of these indicators have been destroyed. Unfortunately the test report is not available yet as these certification bodies needs some time and the final tests have been performed recently. These tests have to be seen as internal R&D tests as the standards are describing different scenarios. © ABB Group April 20, 2017 | Slide 6 Segregated and optionally fully insulated main bus bars in rear compartment

Lower Life Cycle Cost: Scalability Fully scalable system allows you to select what you need Customized download of software to the basic control unit. Customized selection of hardware modules. Simplified design Lowest Down Time : Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) Standardization: Standardized power modules and customized control modules Lower MTTR Switchgear. MNS iS brings a complete new concept to switchgear operation, due to the standard build of the modules, there is NO option for components (other than fuses) to be replaced on site. This means that the whole power module is exchangeable, and spares should be kept of power modules, no auxiliary contacts, relays, etc are required to be held as spares as they are not utilized within the system. Should the power module require replacing due to the fact it has reached the end of lifecycle as indicated in the MNS iS self supervising system. A replacement module (same type and rating) is inserted, and the system checks that the replacement module is compatible, when no trip are present the replacement module is ready for use. No re-parameterization No download of configuration No device recalibration Just exchange NOTE: Should the MControl require replacement, downloading of the Application, Configuration and Parameters is required from MView. Lowest MTTR by direct exchange of functional modules and automatic configuration! © ABB Group April 20, 2017 | Slide 9
