Recap: Simple Distillation What is it used to separate? How does it work? Key words

Start mixture: 50% propanone (boiling point 58°c) 50% water with food dye (boiling point 100°c) Big question: How could we separate these 2 liquids? Big question: How can we test for water and propanone at the start and end of the process to prove they are there?

Fractional Distillation Crude oil Separating crude oil in industry

Fractional distillation Fractional distillation is used to s _ _ _ _ _ _ _ crude oil (a m _ _ _ _ _ _) into its different parts (f _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _). Each fraction has a different use. Because they have different b _ _ _ _ _ _ points, the substances in crude oil can be separated using fractional distillation. The crude oil is e _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ and its vapours allowed to c _ _ _ _ _ _ _ at different temperatures in the fractionating column.
