Sound Card In most case, an integrated sound will be ok for general purpose unless you can distinguish the difference between MP3 and CD music. If you have sensitive for sound quality, then you probably need Creative Lab’s Audigy or higher model.

Case Mid-Tower with 300W power supply is OK for most system, but for gamer. Choice the case design in your favor.

Monitor - Avoid cheaper monitor. - CRT is good for gaming and graphic work. Choose Sony or Nec - LCD is good for most common uses. Choose Samsung, Nec, Sony. “The thing that you can always change is Monitor, Not your eyes”

Keyboard / Mouse Go to near computer shop, and try them. Choose most convenient one for your hand. Consider spend some money to get wireless one. For hardcore gamer, wireless mouse is not recommended.

Hard Disk Drive If you want to make your system faster, then simply change the HDD to faster one such as Western Digital 10000rpm Raptor or Seagate 15000rpm Cheater HDD or get Raid by combining identical two hdds. If you want to make noiseless system, go Seagate Barracuda.
