Digital Citizenship My definition of digital citizenship: To be kind online, not abusing anyone or anything on the internet and using the internet appropriately.

D OWNLOADING Definition: copying files from the internet to your personal device. An example of downloading would be downloading music from your laptop that you got from the internet and putting them onto your iPhone. If you downloaded a song from a website by your favorite artist and you didn’t pay for it, it is illegal because your technically stealing it.

 Definition: Fake s or webpages used to collect personal information; usually steal your property.  Examples: when you get s online that ask you for your credit card information… companies never ask you via for credit card information.  If you give your credit card information to someone online they could take that information and buy things with it and you would be left paying a huge bill of things you didn’t even buy.

 This person was online chatting on an anonymous website with 2 other guys called Omegle, where you use a webcam but no body knows who you are. There are people from all over the world on this site. The person using this site was ask to show her private parts and if she didn’t the person would kill the other person they were with. When the girl refused the person from the other computer cut the other persons arm badly and the cam shut off. She was scared and didn’t know what to do so she told a parent and they blocked the site from the internet and they contacted the police. Although the police couldn’t do anything about it because it was anonymous, the website was blocked and never used again. Story about online bullying:

 Harassing others online. Ex: saying rude things to people on a chatting site.  Copying files illegally. Ex: downloading a movie from the internet and not paying money for it.  Not reading terms and conditions online. Ex: scrolling through all of the terms and conditions online and clicking agree even though you didn’t read them.  Copyright. Ex: going to a website and taking their words without giving them credit and displaying it or keeping it for your own work.  Trying to get other peoples personal information. Ex: ing people and asking for their creditcard information.

Different Sites

What sites are they?  Snapchat: the yellow and white picture. This is a site where you can take a picture and send it to someone and they can view it for up to 10 seconds and then it disappears.  Facebook: the blue logo. This is a site where you can share pictures, write status’, talk to people via personal message, or webcam through Facebook webcam.  Omegle: the picture with orange writing and blue in the corner. This is a site where you go online and talk to people anonymously and you can see each other through a webcam but you don’t know each other. These are people all over the world.  Instagram: the camera. This is a site where you can post pictures of anything and have people either like or comment on them.

Don’t talk to anyone you don’t know. Make sure if anything happens you always talk to an adult. Never give out personal information through anything. Be sure if you buy anything online that the person has good reviews before buying so you know it’s not a scam. Be careful on what you put on the internet because once it’s out there, it’s there forever. WAYS TO PREVENT BAD DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP
