 Equator – an imaginary line that runs in the middle of the earth that divides the northern hemisphere and the southern hemisphere located at 0 degrees latitude.  Longitude- lines that run north and south  Latitude- lines that run east and west  Degrees- the unit longitude and latitude are measured in  Compass- a tool that is used to tell the direction that the user is headed

 Cardinal directions- the primary directions on a compass that are north, south, east, and west  Intermediate directions- the secondary directions on a compass that are north east, north west, south east, south west

 Cardinal- north, south, east, west  Intermediate- north east, north west, southwest, south east

 Major line of latitude- prime meridian at 0 degrees latitude  Major line of longitude- equator at 0 degrees

 Step 1 – Label the equator, prime meridian and cardinal directions.  Step 2 – Find the latitude and check if it is north or south of the equator. Fill in the first coordinate on your blank coordinates.  Step 3 – Find the longitude and check if it is east or west of the prime meridian. Fill in the second coordinate on your blank coordinates.  Step 4 – Check if your fingers touch, check if the quadrant matches the directions in the blank coordinates.

 Longitude and latitude are used today by finding locations in specific jobs because most jobs would use relative location instead of specific location.  Longitude and latitude are used in jobs like piloting, hunting, jobs that require traveling and military uses.  There are many jobs that use longitude and latitude in different ways every day.
