TEAM 1 HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Human resource management is a key element in the development of sound tax administrative practices. What critical issues should be considered in the effective management of human resources? Which issues identified are applicable to: Large tax administrations Small tax administrations

TEAM 1 HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Select the three most important issues and comment on them. Put on your creative thinking caps!! Give three innovative (new, fresh) ideas, actions, activities, etc., that would assist in the management of human resources.

TEAM 2 COMMUNICATION Communication is considered as a challenge not only in tax administrations but in businesses generally. How does the administration effectively get the message out? Internally Externally Please identify.

TEAM 3 CUSTOMER SERVICE Customer service is used by tax administrations to educate the public about their rights and obligations under the tax law and to encourage and facilitate compliance with the law, especially since most tax administrations rely on voluntary compliance. What critical issues should be considered in the effective management of Customer Service?

TEAM 4 RECEIVABLES The effective management of receivables is of utmost importance to the proper administration of taxes. What are the main challenges of the tax administration in the collection of receivables? Identify some solutions.

TEAM 5 AUDIT AND INVESTIGATIONS Audit and Investigation procedures are used by the tax administration to monitor and enforce compliance with the tax law. Effective planning is a critical issue that should be considered in the management of audits and investigations. Identify other issues. GUIDELINES FOR GROUP DISCUSSION AND PRESENTATIONS Participants will be divided into six teams. Each team will be led by a team leader. Team leaders should ensure that there is clear understanding among members regarding the requirements for each area of discussion, with respect to small and large tax administrations. Flip charts, or any other method may be used in presenting the assignment.

GUIDELINES FOR GROUP DISCUSSION AND PRESENTATIONS All members should participate actively in the discussion. Experienced members should share their knowledge with those who are less experienced. Each team is allowed three minutes for their presentation.
