WHAT EXACTLY IS DIABETES? Diabetes is a condition where your body has trouble balancing how much sugar, or glucose, is in your blood stream. You need glucose in your body for energy. Insulin is like a key to unlock your cells and let glucose into your bloodstream. Your pancreas is responsible for producing Insulin.

DIFFERENT KINDS OF DIABETES Type 1  Also known as “Insulin Dependent”  Body does not make insulin  Must be given through an injection  Occurs more often in children and young adults Type 2  Body makes some insulin but not enough  Body prevents insulin from working properly  More common in adults over 40  But can occur in children and young adults due to obesity There are other kinds of Diabetes such as Prediabetes, and Gestational Diabetes
