These days, the internet is an important part of our world. Because of this, many universities have courses that students can study online, so those students do not have to go to classes. I believe that more university courses should be available on the internet. The following essay will explain my reasons for this view. Introduction: 1)General statement 2)Essay topic 3)Opinion (thesis statement) 4) Essay Outline

The most important reason is that students can do distance learning courses at home in their own time. This is especially useful for people who live far away and for people who do not have enough time to go to university lectures. For example, people who are busy at work during the day can study at night over the internet. As a result, people who couldn’t go to university before can now study at university online. Therefore, if universities have more courses online, they will be able to help more students to improve their lives. Body Paragraph 1: 5) Topic sentence for main point 6) Explaining the main point 7) Example 8) Result 9) Result

Another reason is that both the universities and their students can save money. This is because universities do not need to have buildings for classrooms, and students do not have to pay for transport or accommodation near their university. For example, many students spend money on driving to university every day. However, if they can study from home, they don’t need to spend that money. Body Paragraph 2: 10) Topic sentence for second point 11) Explaining 12) Example 13) Opposite example and result

In conclusion, there are two reasons why I believe that universities ought to increase the number of distance learning courses. Firstly, people who work or who do not live near a university will be able to study online. Secondly, distance learning courses are cheaper for students and for universities. I advise all students to try an online course. Conclusion: 14) Introduce the conclusion and give opinion 15) Summary 16) Advice/suggestion

7) _______________________ online students may have less social contact. 8) ___________ they do not have to attend classes, they do not meet and talk with their classmates and may have no personal contact with their teacher. 9) _______ _________________ working together with the teacher and other students can help them learn more. This also means that people who study from home do not have the same opportunities for networking and making friends. 10) _______ _________, they may be lonely. 11) ________________, online study has one positive and one negative effect. The positive effect is that it is more convenient for some students.
