In The Lab With Elliot, Andrew, Takada, and Tommy.

Size of 1 serving/Calories per/ Caloric Ratio. Krispy Kreme donut is 55 grams per serving. 270 Calories per serving, 39% carbs, 57% fats, 4% protein McDonalds salad 321 grams serving size. 260 calories per serving. It has a caloric ratio of 14% Carbs. It has 35% fat, 51% protein.

Which one gives you more long term energy? Short term? The food that gave the immediate energy was the doughnut, which had 26g of carbs, where the salad had 12g. The doughnut also gave more long-term energy because it had more fat in one serving, 17g to the salad’s 10g.

Benefits/Non-benefits of a Krispy Kreme Cake Doughnut Benefits- It has 12% of your daily value of fiber. Fiber helps you go to the bathroom and for fecal matter to not build up inside of your large intestine. Also this has little cholesterol which is good for you. Non benefits- Having no Vitamin A or C and has high saturated fat. Vitamin A and C help to build tooth enamel and to fight against infection and the donut doesn’t include these vitamins. The donut also is very high in saturated fat, and too much saturated fat can clog your arteries leading to the #1 cause of death in the US, Heart Disease, and the #3 cause of death, Stroke.

Benefits/Non-Benefits of a McDonalds Ranch Salad with Grilled Chicken and Bacon Benefits- More than 100% of your daily vitamin A. Vitamin A strengthens tooth enamel. Also has over half of your daily vitamin C. Vitamin C helps us to fight against infection. Non-Benefits- High in sodium and Cholesterol. These both can lead to High Blood Pressure and clogged arteries, leading to the #1 cause of death in the US, Heart Disease, and the #3 cause of death, Stroke.

What to choose? The salad would be a better choice of a food despite all of the non benefits from it. It is high in Vitamin A and C which are really good for your body and has more benefits than the Krispy Kreme donut. The salad also has a better source of protein.
