Purpose of Study To describe the visual function and degree of spectacle independence of patients with bilateral multifocal IOLs Ultimate Goal: improve our management of expectations for future patients

Methods Ongoing, non-randomized, unmasked prospective study 110 eyes of 55 pts Standard coaxial phaco/IOL, topical anesthesia Pts received ReSTOR D1 (+3D Add) No prior ocular surgery or visually significant preoperative comorbidities Key Outcomes Measure: responses to questionnaire Data collected at 1 M, 3 to 6 M, 12 M and 24M postoperatively

Demographics # eyes (pts)110 eyes (55 pts) 1M Post-op SE (1.00 to -1.38) 1M Post-op Cyl D (0 to 1.25 D) LRIs36 eyes (33%) Mean Follow-up 7.2 M (1-12M)

Never Rarely Sometimes Usually Always Rating the Degree of Spectacle Independence Other than non-prescription sunglasses, for the following activities I wear prescription glasses (circle one): Note: 16 total activities queried

Results: Spectacle Independence at Distance Driving during the day Driving at night Watching TV Going to Movies Never wear Always wear

Results: Spectacle Independence at Intermediate Cooking Computer use Using the cell phone Price Tags

Results: Spectacle Independence at Near Reading books Reading Magazines Reading the newspaper Reading menus

Day Drive100% Night Drive98% Computer91% Read Books80% Day Drive, Computer, and Read Books 77% Patients who “never” or “almost never” (score of 0, 1, or 2) wear glasses for the following activities

If you see halos, how severe are they? Never noticed Moderate Severe Mean + SD

How would you rate your satisfaction with your results? dissatisfied Satisfied Very Satisfied Mean + SD *3 of 55 patients (5%) rated satisfaction less than “5” (ie: 95% “satisfied” to “very satisfied”)

Did the Results of the Procedure Meet, Exceed, or Fall Short of Your Expectations? Met or Exceeded Fell Short 78%22%

Conclusions High degree of spectacle independence High satisfaction scores (95% of patients satisfied), despite seemingly high levels (22%) of falling short of expectations ReSTOR D1 appears predictable at providing wide range of vision Excellent refractive accuracy permits high levels of spectacle independence at distance

Conclusions This data offers a good picture of results of the ReSTOR D1 (+3 Add) in clinical practice We plan to use this data to help counsel our patients preoperatively

Thank you for your attention.
