Campus voting must take place from January 30- February 10, Each campus shall establish a date and time for balloting to take place. Voting may be scheduled as part of a weekly faculty meeting or whatever setting is appropriate for the campus. The Textbook Advisory Committee members for each subject area will facilitate the process on each campus. Security of the ballots must be ensured.
The Textbook Advisory Committee member shall distribute ONE Textbook Selection Ballot per eligible voter and collect them for each respective subject area for eligible voters on campus.
An eligible voter means a certified teacher who is currently teaching the subject or has taught the subject within the past three years and has attended the scheduled sharing sessions on their campus. It is conceivable that a given teacher may be eligible to vote for more than one textbook in their subject area. Eligible Voter
The Textbook Advisory Committee members for each subject area will tabulate the results on the Compiled Grade Level/Campus Ballot Form and complete a Campus Ranking Form. Note: Should there be a tie for first place, voting should take place until a decisive vote is final.
Each Textbook Advisory Committee member shall cast the campus’ rankings for the textbooks recommended from that campus at a meeting to be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the CAB Cafeteria. All Textbook Adoption Campus Checklists, Individual Teacher Ballots, Compiled Grade Level/Campus Ballot Forms, Grade Level Ranking Forms, Campus Ranking Forms and sign-in sheets will be turned in to the respective curriculum specialist.

If additional copies of ballots are needed, photo copies may be made. Each ballot must be signed by the eligible voting teacher or it will be invalidated. Each ranking sheet for each subject area must be signed by the Textbook Advisory Committee member(s). The principal will sign the Campus Ranking Form only.
One Representative Per Campus (Textbook Advisory Committee Member) will attend with all the documentation. February 11, 2015
Vote is reported based on campus rankings. Each campus representative on the Textbook Advisory Committee shall have one vote and shall cast that vote at a meeting to be held specifically to select the textbook. Each campus representative shall report the first, second and third choice rankings of their campus. FIRST PROCEDURE
Ranks are tallied and totaled Lowest total indicates highest ranking overall Majority is established by company receiving 51% of the first place rankings from the campuses (i.e. at least 19 campuses at elementary) The final selection shall be based on a majority vote of at least 51%.
Vote taken in cases where a majority is not achieved - the voting process among the Textbook Advisory Committee members shall continue until a 51% majority is accomplished. Only the top two companies with the highest ranking will be voted on by committee members. Each school gets ONE (1) vote. The highest total must reflect over 50% (i.e. at least 19 campuses at Elementary) of the campus votes. Voting will continue until a majority is obtained. SECOND PROCEDURE
Vote taken if a majority of the same company is not established between English and Spanish. Each Advisory Committee member (Eng/Span) will vote for one company (With input from eligible voters/campus vote) Company obtaining over 50% ( i.e. elementary more than 19 votes) of the votes will be adopted for both English and Spanish. THIRD PROCEDURE
The District Textbook Selection Committee shall submit its recommendations (in accordance with the District's Site-Based Decision Making Plan) to the Board for consideration at the Board's first meeting in March. If the Board fails to ratify any of the selections of the District Textbook Selection Committee, the reasons shall be placed in the official minutes, and the Board shall direct the committee to recommend another selection(s) from the approved multiple list. Such procedures shall be continued until the Board shall ratify all selections of the District Textbook Selection Committee. Ratification by Board of Trustees
After district ratification by the Board, two copies of the District Textbook Selection Report shall be submitted to the Textbook Division of the Texas Education Agency, Austin, Texas.
