Javanese music is the most richest and most distinctive of Asian music culture. It was and is is of enormous importance in religious, political, and entertainment functions.
Gamelan The gamelan orchestra, based on metallic idiophones and drums, is perhaps the form which is most readily identified as being distinctly “Javanese” by outsiders. There is two tuning systems I Javanese gamelan music, pentatonic, and heptatonic in full, but focussing on a pentatonic group. A complete gamelan consist of two of set instrument, one each tuning system.
