LESSON – 8 TYPES OF SHIRT.

KINDS OF CLOTHING

Clothes mirror one’s personality, preferences and environment Clothes mirror one’s personality, preferences and environment. They often serve as markers of places people are in. the following are the different types of clothes.

UNIFORM. This could be a blouse and skirt, polo and short pants, blouse without long sleeves and skirt / pants and / or blazer and pants used for school or places of work.

SCHOOLERS. Children ages six onwards looks forward to wearing the required uniform in school.

HIGHSCHOOLERS. Aside from school uniforms, teenagers like to be dressed like their friends. They want to be identified with the group that any style would be appropriate as long as it is accepted by people from their age bracket.

FOR HIGHSCHOOL AND COLLEGE Clothes become more formal through secondary and collegiate years. Students prefer elegant yet practical clothing in preparation for job hunting and important appointments. Linen, cotton, mercerized, worsted, silk and gabardine are appropriate.

SPORTSWEAR. Different styles go with different activities. Comfortability in movement is must along this line of garments, whether for kids, young people, or adult.

CASUAL DRESS. there are various designs and styles of these garments for kids, teens, young adult, single and married. Simple and loose cut id preferred for comfortable movement.

Father and son have the same kind of sleepwear, likewise with mother and daughter.

TEENS SLEEPWEAR. For boys and girls.

SPECIAL FORMAL DRESS. Younger sister and brother.

FOR PROFESSIONALS. Tailored garments are sought in this for professionals are now very particular of the style, color and design of clothes. Expensive fabrics are preferred for simplicity and elegance.

FOR RETIREES. They cease buying clothes in this stage because people in this age enjoy their old clothes. Friends and/or relatives usually provides them with new clothes. Cotton, challis and linen are comfortable.

BLOUSE. Blouse is woman’s loose outer garment from the neck down to the waist usually fit at the waistline or at time lucked into skirts or pants. There are several types of blouses. Blouse with opening front and with or without collar Blouse with opening at the back with , or without collar Blouse that have no sleeves Blouse with strap or over the shoulder Blouse that are bare over the shoulder

“BLOUSES”

SKIRT. A skirt is another kind of free-hanging garment extending from the waist down. There are several types of skirt. The fitted skirt and straight skirt The gored skirt The balloon skirt The plated skirt Gathered of shirred skirt Wrapped around skirt Fouke skirt or combination skirt Culottes skirt ( a combination of short and skirt ) A-line skirt

“SKIRT’S”

WAISTLINE FINISHING. The following are the waistline finishing of the different types of skirt. With waistband Continuous waistline Brass bounded Side garter waistline or all around gartered waistline Skirts often have similarities on how they are made. Some have waistband others have non. Both have opening with fasteners while other have slits. See figures on the following.

“WAISTLINE FINISHING” WRAPPED AROUND A-LINE PLEATED

SKIRT WITH CONTINOUS WAISTLINE. These skirts have no waistband. The waistline is finish with facing to cover the raw edges. Darts of the facing should match the darts and side seams of the waistline to have a smooth and flat waistline.

SKIRT WITH BIAS BOUNDED WAISTLINE. The bias strip is cut 1 ½ inches wide and enclosed seam and edges of the waistline. It is usually finished with a hook eyes. LAYERED SHIRRED/GATHERED

CULOTTES SKIRT FITTED SKIRT

SKIRT WITH SIDE GARTER , BACK GARTER AND ALL AROUND GARTERED WAIST-LINE. This could be made with or without waistband. Place the garter on both sides of the waistline 2” to 3” long. For the back garter all around garter the waist measurement should have 3 inches allowance for the expansion of garter. SIDE GARTERED BACK GARTERED ALL AROUND GARTERED

POLO SHIRT. SHIRT- loose garment for upper part of the body, usually having collars, either sort sleeves or long sleeves, cuff and a front opening. The common collars used in polo shirts are the sports collar, standing collar, Chinese collar or mandarin collar. There are shirt for: Male polo shirt opening overlaps on the left side where buttonholes are made

POLO SHIRT. Female shirt opening overlaps on the right side where buttonholes are made.

There are several waist finishing of shorts. These are. SHORT PANTS. Short are pants or trousers of less than knee length or longer. People of different gender and age popularly use these for daily wear. Short that are used at home are made of cotton while shorts that are used in the school or offices are made of denims. Twill, gabardine and linen fabrics. Shorts are commonly made of silk materials with lining or underlining. Some are made of orlon or Dacron materials There are several waist finishing of shorts. These are. Gartered waistband Waistband with belt loops Waistband wit overlap Waistband wit corded string

“SHORT PANTS”

BLAZERS. Blazers are also known as coats. Several styles are used in front opening as well as with the labels width and shape. They could be double breasted or single. One to three buttons are popular.
