Named class valedictorian in 1945 Graduated from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, with a music education degree. Graduated from Boston’s New England Conservatory of Music with a degree in voice and violin. It was here that she met Martin Luther King, Jr. They were married in 1953 and had four children.
