Who I am Ashley West Lab 4 10/21/11

An Introduction to Me! My full name is Ashley Michele West I was born on April 2, 1991 I am 5ft 3in I attend Campbell University, and my major is history education. I have dark blonde hair, and blue eyes. I am passionate, funny, and at times serious. This presentation will deliver all the elements you need to understand who I am.

My Family My family is my whole world. My aunt is my best friend, I know for a fact I would not be where I am today without her; she is practically my second mother. My grandparents make up the foundation of my life. They have taught what is right and wrong, and what it means to lead a true Christian life. Although my mother and I have had tensions over the last year and a half, there is no doubt that when I look in the mirror I see her face, and no matter what we go through I love her unconditionally. My little brother (although he is taller than me) brings laughter to my life, it seems that every time I am with him I am laughing until I am crying. There are a countless amount of other family members that make my world go around, without my family I would not have laughter, love, or the guidance to get me through the journey we call life.

My Faith I am of the Pentecostal religion. I am a “worry wort”, and my faith offers the stability I need when everything seems to collapsing around me. My faith in God has given me the strength to trudge through the difficult spots of my life thus far. I fully believe that without the Lord’s guidance I would not have made it here today. I am amazed everyday of how God pulls everything together, and works it all out for the best. There are times I am criticized because of my morals and faith, but I know by standing strong for the Lord, there is a place of no stress or worry awaiting me. “If you do not stand strong in your faith, you will not stand at all.”- Isaiah 7:9

My Hobbies I love to read. My top favorite books are: – A Tree Grows in Brooklyn – Gone with the Wind – Their Eyes were Watching God – Frankenstein I am a big fan of board games. A perfect day, would be spending the day with my family laughing. To relax, I like to watch TV/Movies. – Comedy – Horror – Drama – Etc.

My Passion My passion is teaching/helping others. With teaching, I love knowing that I was able to help someone understand something that they were struggling with. I feel that with teaching, you have to get on the same level as the students, and reach them through their world. Also, no student is a lost cause, every student can be reached in some way. Community service is something I strive to do whenever I can. In my opinion, giving back to those that are less fortunate or need help is the greatest fulfillment one can achieve. My favorite community service project to date, would have to be helping construct a house for Habitat for Humanity my freshman year. “In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.”- Mother Teresa

What is ahead? In ten years I see myself teaching high school history. By this time I have completed my masters degree and doctorate in history. Some time later from this point, I see myself teaching at a university. In the future I also see myself with five kids and a husband. I want to state that these plans are only “written” in pencil; God can change them. Even though I am a planner, and have the next ten years of my life planned out, I want to travel down the road God has planned for me. Teachers are people video link:

A summary of me in ten points! My family and my faith are the two aspects of my life that get me through everyday. I really, really, love TV! Teaching and helping others is my passion. The #1 item I cannot live without is my Bible. My biggest pet peeve is lying. I am 5ft 3 in. One of my favorite books is “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn”. I am in the process of becoming a high school history teacher. I want to have five kids: two boys and three girls. I am a planner, but I make my plans in pencil so the Lord can make his adjustments!
