William Wallace By: Tyler McKeone

Early Childhood  Born in about 1270 A.D. in Scotland.  Scotland was controlled by England at the time of his birth.  Wallace’s family was of Welsh decent.  His family was actually somewhat wealthy.

Early Childhood  Born in Ayrshire, Scotland  Little known about childhood  3 brothers.

Education  Spoke French and Latin  Taught by Uncle who was a priest

Work  Started Scottish revolution  Great warrior  Inspired his men

Accomplishments  Gave Scots leadership when all hope seemed lost  Won battle of Sterling Bridge  Knighted

Critics  Wallace’s story has been exaggerated over the years  No one knows the entire story fully  Wallace inspired the Scots, but himself only won a couple of battles before he was captured and tortured

Legacy  National hero of Scotland  He died as a martyr fighting for freedom  Scotland eventually gained their freedom from English oppression
