Making a Difference In Communities Across Canada Presented to… District of Chetwynd Council

We Believe… “that no kid should be left on the sidelines and every child should have the opportunity to play sports”

The KidSport Mission… The goal of KidSport is to help under resourced families overcome financial barriers so that all kids have the opportunity to participate in organized sport.

KidSport Across the Nation… Has a 20 year track record as a National organization Is entrenched in all 10 provinces and 1 territory Has established over 175 community chapters from coast to coast More than 4000 local volunteers who ensure kids have access to sport in their community A solid community network with sport clubs, public health, education, recreation, service and community groups: Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCAs, etc.

KidSport Across BC 40 community chapters Over $1.2 million in grants in 2012 to over 6200 kids Key provincial partners include Province of BC, CTV, Hyundai, NHLPA

The Need… 1 in 3 Families can’t afford the cost of organized sport (StatsCan) Many are missing out on the physical, social, and mental benefits associated with sport participation Sport and physical activity have become a luxury that is only affordable for a fraction of Canadian kids Last year KidSport allocated $2,575 to 10 kids in the Chetwynd area

KidSport Grant Program Provides funding for families in need to help cover registration costs for a season of sport – sustainable sport experience Uses a confidential application process Has a proprietary review process Provides grants to Kids aged 18 and under Accessible to every family, with an identified need, across the country

What our Kids are saying!

Impact of KidSport Our Work Since 1993, KS has provided over half a million under resourced Canadian kids with the means to pursue their passion in sport In 2012, we assisted almost 70,000 kids who otherwise would not have had the opportunity to play KidSport registration and equipment grants totalled over $6M last year

Impact of KidSport cont. Top three sports funded through KidSport were: –Hockey, Soccer, & Gymnastics 50 BC kids received full sets of hockey equipment via our partnership with NHLPA Goals and Dreams Considered a critical component in the LTAD model and sport for life concept

I’m excited to show that with discipline, hard work and dedication, you too can achieve your dreams. I would like to thank all of my coaches in Chetwynd for helping me achieve my dreams.” – Deryk Engelland
