10/6/05 page 5 General Careful consideration of things such as image size, ambient light level, projector placement and type of screen to use are critical to the optimum use of the projection system. Ambient Temperature Conditions –Max. ambient temperature : 40°C or 104 °F –Min. ambient temperature : 10 °C or 50 °F –Storage temperature: -35°C to +65°C (-31°F to 149°F) Humidity Conditions –Storage: 0 to 98 % RH Non-condensing –Operation: 0 to 95 % RH Non-condensing Environment –Do not install next to heat sources –Free flowing clean air – no air inlet or exhaust obstructions. –Non-contaminated environment

10/6/05 page 6 Configuration Screen Size - The projector is designed for projecting an image size : 1 meter width (3.3 ft.) to maximum 18 meter width (59 ft.) (depending on the ambient light conditions), with an aspect ratio of 4 to 3 (recommended between 1 m (3.3 ft) - 12 m (39.4 ft) The projector should be installed perpendicular with the screen and leveled in both directions. The projector can be installed to project images in four different configurations: Front/table Rear/table Front/ceiling Rear/ceiling

10/6/05 page 7 Safety Area Around the Projector Air Inlets and Outlets - - It is recommended to leave a 1 meter safe area on all sides with no obstructions. Especially near the units rear exhaust.

10/6/05 page 8 Projector Tilting -The FLM can be tilted upward and downward. -It can be rotated and used in portrait mode also, but it must be in such a way, so that the xenon lamps anode (+) is higher than the lamps cathode (-). This is the general rule for all xenon lamps. -For the FLM, this would be with the input side downward.

10/6/05 page 12 Lensing – Given either the SW (Screen Width), the PD (Projection Distance), or the Lens Ratio. Lens Selection –Determine the approximate position of the projector in the projection room with regard to the screen and calculate the projection distance (PD). –Use the lens formulas to find the best corresponding lens ratio with regard to the calculated projection distance for the required screen width. Lens Installation –Remove the foam rubber in the opening of the lens holder. –Take the lens assembly out of its packing material and remove the lens caps on both sides. –Move the lever or handle of the lens anchor system until the lens locking system is open. –Insert the lens while lining up the motor connector on the lens with the connector on the lens block, and push until the plates are flat together. –Move the handle of the lens anchor system to lock the lens into the lens holder. 10/6/05 page 15 Stacking Projectors Up to 2 projectors can be stacked on each other without using extra tools or accessories.

10/6/05 page 16 Turn the rigging sockets of the second projector counter clockwise until they are free to move up and down. Secure the projectors on each other by bringing the free part of the second projector into the socket of the first projector and turn the wheel a quarter turn clockwise while pushing downwards until it clicks in. For ceiling mounted configurations, mount a security cable between the lowest projector and the upper projector.

10/6/05 page 17 Rotation Tip: Use a white colored hatch pattern for the reference projector and e.g. green colored for the stacked projector. This makes it easier to see the different between both hatch patterns projected. Tip: You can increase leverage by using a screw driver in the holes of the adjustment ring

10/6/05 page 19 Motorized Lens Shift, Zoom, and Focus Best image quality is projected in the On-Axis configuration. The lens can be shifted with respect to the DMD (P) which result in a shifted image on the screen (Off-Axis). A 100% shift means that the center point of the projected image is shifted by half the screen size. Due to mechanical and optical limitations it’s recommended to keep the shift values within the field of view (F) as illustrated below. Within these shift ranges the projector and lens perform well. Although it is mechanically possible to shift outside the recommended field of view (±120% U/D and ±70% L/R), this will result in a slight decline of image quality depending on the used lens and the zoom position of the lens. Furthermore, shifting too much in both directions will result in a blurred image corner.

10/6/05 page 27 Switching projector on –Press the power switch to switch on the projector. It may take about 60 seconds before the completion of several operations ( i.e. cpu boot, software initialization,... ) –The projector starts in standby mode. –Press Standby key once on the local keypad or on the remote control. Switching projector off –First press and hold standby –Let the projector cool down until the fans stop blowing, at least 15 min. –Switch off the projector with the power switch.

10/6/05 page 30 Lens Adjustment Quick lens adjustment –Use “*” key or “Lens” key for the Internally Generated Lens Pattern or –Direct Lens Adjustment (RCU) On the Remote Control three buttons with double action are provided, allowing direct alignment for lens ZOOM, FOCUS and VERTICAL SHIFT. For HORIZONTAL SHIFT, use the VOL button. 1. Press LENS ZOOM button [-] or [+] (A) for correct image size on the screen. 2. Press LENS FOCUS button [-] or [+] (C) for an overall focus of the image. 3. Press LENS SHIFT button ↑ or ↓ (B) for correct vertical position of the image on the screen. (image 4-15) 4. Press VOL button [-] or [+] (D) for correct horizontal position of the image on the screen. –[-] button = left shift, [+] button = right shift

10/6/05 page 32 Maintenance Schedule –It is recommended that you clean or replace the air filters when you replace the lamp - or sooner, if in dusty or dirty environment. In the latter case, often. –A clogged filter reduces the air flow and can lead to overheating and failure of the projector. Dust Filters – 1 on Front, 1 on Top rear left, 1 on Bottom front left
