 The game is based on the DC superhero Batman, it was released worldwide on August 25,  The game was published by Warner Bros. and Interactive Entertainment. The game was developed by Rock Steady Studios, they have also developed games like Grand Theft Auto, and Riot response.  The game’s relate to the film as many of the characters are in both. Not only are the main characters like Batman and Joker in both the games but they also include other characters like police commissioner Gordon or bane.  The game’s main enemies are the ones from the films like Joker, Mr. Freeze and bane but a lot of the enemy characters are from the comics like Penguin, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, Solomon Grundy, Scarecrow and Zaz.

 The game was comercialised on PS3, XBOX 360, Microsoft Windows, OS X and Cloud (On live). The games genres are action-adventure, beat’em up and stealth.  Over 2.5 billion copies of the game were sold worldwide.  The marketing campaign was designed to leave many in suspense.  A short demo of the game was released to only get the players used to the game’s controls.  A trailer was also released showcasing some of the new things the character can do.

 The game has done exceptionally well and won many awards including best adventure, best action and the Guinness world record for most critically acclaimed superhero game ever.  The game was nominated at the Academy Of Interactive Arts and Sciences awards for Adventure Game Of The Year, Outstanding Achievement In Animation and many more.  It also received a Game Of The Year addition a year later which included some extra hours of game play and another playable character.

 As this game received so much good press and ratings, a second was released. Batman Arkham city was the second game in the Arkham series and also done exceptionally well.  A third game was released in the series, Arkham origins, and a fourth is set to release on June 2 nd, 2015.

The cover of the game is very dark. This shows that Batman is a very dark and mysteries character. We simply see the main character in the game “Batman” standing alone. This shows the characters personality as being alone and not having anyone. The moon is very prominent and bright, putting forward the idea of nigh and darkness. The characters symbol, a bat, is at the top of the cover. As bats are nocturnal creatures, this promotes batman's style of coming out at night time. The cover brings the idea to mind that Batman watches over the city. The games disc is the view of Gotham city being covered by all the games logo’s, the title and other important writing. The back of the game’s has a small bit of writing, not giving away to much of the game. The games main villain is in the top left of the screen. (Joker). The sentence “welcome to the mad house” is written as if it had been sprayed out of the can the main villain is holding. “Madhouse”, a crazy and unsafe place to be. The back also has some of the game’s labels and main logo’s, it also has the age rating. Some other bits of the writing are also in the green writing.
