About AVID AVID is an elective class here at SEMS beginning in 7 th grade and students continue on to high school. The AVID program is designed to help students to be more successful in school and prepare them for college by developing the necessary skills and work habits. AVID results As the number of years in AVID increases, the "a-g" completion rate increases. In fact, 9 out of 10 students that are in AVID for 5 or 6 years complete the "a-g" requirements.
