Presentation transcript:

Comparison of Canopy 900 MHz Point to Multipoint Systems Concept testing was performed from June – Aug 2006 on Canopy products. This presentation documents the process and the findings of this research. While the findings are most useful to the Canopy team, the process is available to Motorola to use on other products or other market research. November 2006 Ray Savich

What Network Operators Say is Important Reliable service, predictable availability to tier offerings, position service Easily expanded system to support more subscribers (scalability) Increased coverage to reach more subscribers Higher throughput to support more simultaneous users Easily upgraded solutions to accommodate changing end-user applications Easy to install & maintain, scalable solution at competitive price Latest technology to get full benefit Regardless of segment, there were some needs that were general to all markets that were in the research. This information further validates that Motorola Canopy messaging of reliable, scalable, interference tolerant service that is easy to install is appropriate for this market. Based on face to face interviews with 39 service providers, 3Q2006

Important Factors for Network Operators Canopy Reliable service, predictable availability to tier offerings, position service Industry leading C/I ratio for interference tolerance Easily expanded system to support more subscribers (scalability) Synchronization for reduction of self interference and enabling scalability Increased coverage to reach more subscribers Multiple solutions to enable network operators to increase coverage Higher throughput to support more simultaneous users Multiple systems including 300 Mbps backhaul to enable flexible network design Easily upgraded solutions to accommodate changing end-user applications Software downloads of the latest features managed by CNUT – available at no charge Easy to install & maintain, scalable solution at competitive price Reliable hardware with field proven <1% failure rate in actual deployments Latest technology to get full benefit Newly designed modules to enhance 900 MHz coverage coming by 1Q2007

Network Operators Want an Indoor 900 MHz Solution 900 indoor solution. When will this be ready? Its all about indoor self install and NLoS Indoor NLoS solution would save me many truck rolls. This cant be done at 5.7 GHz but would work at 900 MHz. We would let UPS do the truck roll and I would ship SMs and save gas need a neighborhood remote AP to serve a neighborhood with 900 MHz There are approximately 250 customer statements for each concept. Of the 250 for this concept, I have chosen six verbatim quotes to share. This is the customers voice reaction to the product concept. This is what the customer has to say to Motorola about this concept. This feedback helps us understand what information we need to communicate to development engineering in the MRD. If we need to clarify any of the information, the database provides contact information so that we can get additional supporting information or go back to the customer to review their requirement. This also provides a preview of value statements that can help marketing position the product. Actual Network Operator Comments collected 3Q2006
