babushka Scarf Grandmother

Anna wore her dress and babushka. The border of the quilt was made from Anna’s babushka. Her babushka came to visit her often.

Poverty (noun)- being extremely poor. Homeless Lack of food or clothing

Huppa (noun)- a canopy that couples stood under to get married. This is a Jewish Tradition.

The quilt was used as the wedding huppa. Under the huppa, Anna and Sasha promised each other love and understanding.

Bouquet (noun)-a bunch of flowers.

Last night our family sewed a banner for Grandpa’s birthday. It was made from scraps of cloth that were sewn together into one large sheet with needles and thread. We cut out bright letters and shapes. To make a colorful border, everyone wrote birthday wishes around the edges of the banner. We will hang it up at the yearly gathering for his birthday.
