Routing Area Working Group Reshuffle IETF/IEEE Leadership Meeting Newark, September 29, 2014 Adrian Farrel – Routing AD

Bottom Line Message Nothing to see, move along No work is being factored out No new work is being slipped in All we are doing is rationalising a few clusters of work Most WGs remain untouched This is “in progress” – Some changes before IETF-91 in Honolulu – Remaining changes early in the New Year

What’s changing? RTGWG (The Routing Area Working Group) – Minor re-charter for clarity – This is now a venue for bringing in new work VPNs, Data Centers, Pseudowires, BGP-enabled services Traffic Engineering, Optical Networking, and RSVP-TE PWE3PALS (Pseudowire And LDP-enabled Services) L2VPN L3VPNBESS (BGP-Enabled Services) NVO3NVO3 (…next slide) PCE CCAMPCCAMP (Technology-specific control plane) TEAS (TE Architecture and Signaling)MPLS RSVP-TE GMPLS

What does this mean for NVO3? Currently undergoing re-chartering – – Will be sent for external review and notified on New Work Still doing… – Data center – Network virtualization – IP-based overlay But BGP-based control plane is out of scope – This falls in BESS Leaves NVO3 with… – Architecture and requirements for data center VPNs Use cases if there is desire to work on them – Centrally controlled data center VPNs – New encapsulations
