According to early history of the area, Woodlawn was founded by Mr. O. M. Wood and it wasn’t long before Woodlawn was a growing high school surrounded by a thriving business district. Today the school is a staple in the community and a primary reason why several businesses are located in the area. A variety of businesses such as banks, doctors’ offices, churches, and merchants of all kinds are located within walking distance from the school.
