Presidential Palace in Warsaw - the historic palace in the city centre of Warsaw at Krakowskie Przedmieście Street 46/48. Since 1994, the official residence of the President of the Republic of Poland. The Presidential Palace is the largest palace in Warsaw. It was rebuilt several times.

This was originally a baroque-style palace residence of the Genoese, the first in Warsaw type of Italian gardens, which slope down to the Vistula River (flowing in those days, at the foot of the escarpment) at which there was a harbor for ships. The designer of the palace was most likely Constantino Tencalla - then court architect of King Władysław IV, the author of Zygmunt's Column. The construction began in hetman Stanisław Koniecpolski, for the purpose of his Warsaw residence (his Headquartered were Brody). But he died in 1646, and the work completed by his son Alexander. During the Swedish invasion in the years , the palace was looted and devastated by the Swedes and the army of George Rakoczy.

The Mermaid of Warsaw (Polish: Syrenka Warszawska) is a symbol of Warsaw, represented on the city's coat of arms and well as in a number of statues and other imagery.

The legend of this talk often and cooling Warsaw guides tours of the Old Town: A long time ago, two sisters – sirens swam from the Atlantic to the Baltic. They were beautiful women with fish tails, living in the depths of the seas. One of them took a liking to rock in the Danish straits and so far we see her sitting on a rock at the entrance to the port of Copenhagen. The second swam up to the great seaside port of Gdańsk, then the Vistula River flowed up her gear. According to legend, at the foot of today's Warsaw's Old Town, approximately at the place where now the monument is, She came out of the water on a sandy shore to rest, and she liked the place so she decided to stay. Soon the fishermen noticed that during their fishing someone was churning waves of the Vistula, tangling the nets and releasing the fish. But the mermaid enchanted them with her beautiful singing. Once, a wealthy merchant saw the mermaid and her beautiful singing. He quickly calculated how much money goes where he captured the mermaid and displayed her at fairs. He tricked put the siren and imprisoned her in a wooden shed, with no access to water. Complaints heard sirens son of a fisherman and his friends released her at night. Grateful mermaid promised them that if necessary, they too can count on her help. For this reason, the Warsaw Mermaid is armed - has a sword and a shield to defend the city.
