What is Our Mission? Our mission is to “make disciples” of all peoples through the Spirit-empowered speaking of the Word of God (the gospel) – Matt. 28:18-20 “disciple-making” involves speaking God’s word for conversion AND for spiritual growth “disciple-making” is the mission and priority of every disciple of Jesus

Part Three: How do we engage in this mission?

How Do We Make Disciples?  Essence: “speaking the truth of God to other people in dependence on the Holy Spirit” (Trellis and the Vine, p. 49) 1 Thessalonians 1:1-2:12

How Do We Make Disciples? 1. Speaking God’s Word Spirit-empowered proclamation of the gospel is God’s means of making disciples of Jesus “evangelism” is the privilege and expectation of every disciple (cf. Col. 4:5-6) A. For conversion

How Do We Make Disciples? 1. Speaking God’s Word teaching, exhorting, encouraging, admonishing, speaking, singing, preaching the Word of God is the means of spiritual growth this disciple-making function is the work of every member of the body (“one another”) in a multitude of different ways and contexts B.
