And from “The Plain White Tee’s”, I am from the mini-pine tree, Free Verse Where I’m From I am from tofu, From my teddy bear, And from “The Plain White Tee’s”, I am from the mini-pine tree, Whose small pine needles, Poked my small fingers. I am from “Juicy Drop Pops” and chocolate, From Michelle Quan, From “Peace” and the Broncos. I am from the scar on my knee, High School Musical, And flipping off the swings. I am from Vanessa Hudgens. I am from stuffed animals, And from clothes stuffed in my closet. I am from the days, I would laugh and play, Without a care in the world.

The clock strikes midnight, The sky is black, Free Verse Midnight The clock strikes midnight, The sky is black, Half the world is asleep, Half is awake, I hear the owls hoot, Soft little hoots, I curl up in my bed, And dream sweet little dreams, Until I awake in the morning.

Knowledge can be sweet and sour, No one will ever know everything, No limit Conversation Quiet, listening Thinking No law Talking Loud, listening Free Verse Knowledge Knowledge can be sweet and sour, No one will ever know everything, Knowledge goes on forever, “Smart is not something you are, Smart is something you get.”, Talk smart, learn smart It’s together, And individual, Knows no pain, Knowledge, Is Me

Free Verse Roller Coaster The world’s a roller coaster, There’s up and downs and all around, Sometimes you think it can’t get any worse, Sometimes you think it can’t get any better, Life’s a roller coaster. We learn to live with it, The world still goes around, Even on your worst days, The world still goes around.

And knowledge you will create. Every time you talk, Free Verse Knowledge Everything you do, Every step you take, Try to learn something, And knowledge you will create. Every time you talk, Every time you walk, You can learn something, If only you try.

To the tune of “Are you sleeping” Earth Greener is better, Don’t you see, We are polluting, Please stop, Please stop!

About the Author My name is Maiya K. I am almost 10. My environment inspired me to write most of my poems. Different events also inspired me. Figurative language helped me because it helped my writing flow. It also helped me tell the stories I was trying to tell within my poems.

Thank you!!!
