By: Spencer Jolley

My audience will learn the following:  What a muscle car is  What the difference is between different muscle cars  Understand how an engine works  Learn about the influence of muscle cars  The end of the muscle car era and it’s return

Mid sized car V8 engine No “official definition”

 A sub class of muscle cars  Smaller bodies with smaller engines  Still sold today

Roadsters modified to go fast WWII Veterans used skills learned in the army to improve the speed Attributed to the birth of muscle cars

1949 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 Had 135 hp Created because of the demand for faster cars Used in NASCAR

Oldsmobile inspired other auto makers to make faster cars Became a competition to see who could make the fastest car

Popular among the youth because of low prices and they were fast Cars could cost as low as $3,000 Competition to see who could have the fastest car

Insurance prices became expensive Government concerned about pollution and lack of safety Demand for fuel increased

80’s brought back the demand for fast cars Difficult to make faster due to rules by government Technology improved and so did the cars
