EVM, EDH, budget codes … EVM: stands for Earned Value Management –The project is subdivided into workpackages –Work package “Beam Instrumentation” has workpackages which correspond to types of sensors: BCT, BPM, SEM … –Progress must be reported each month –Used by the project management to follow progress EDH: Electronic Document Handling –Contains all orders, workshop jobs … Budget Codes –Expenditures are assigned to budget lines. Budget Summary (2) Emittance Meter oversprends by 80 kCHf (initial estimation 400kCHF for 2 instruments, later corrected to 480 kCHF for 1 ½ instruments BCTs will overspend by 110 kCHF (390 kCHF -> 600 kCHF) (more different types than initially foreseen) BPMs will overspend by 200 kCHF (800 kCHF -> 1000 kCHF) There will be no BTVs but these will be replaced by SEMGrids (which are more expensive) 10/18/2011CERN Linac-4 instrumentation review Uli Raich BE/BI 5

Budget Summary (3) BLMs: The budget was already been reviewed in March Very little or no overspending is foreseen SEMGrids, Wire Scanners and TV screens The budget was overestimated (fortunately!) –Old electronics used 1 electronics card + 1 cable per channel and the cost estimate was based on this –New electronics uses 1 multi conductor cable + 1 electronics card per sensor plane. Globally: We need to reshuffle budgets internally but should be able to stay within the allocate budgets.
